Hello, friends! Another change is happening in my life and very soon. I’m going to be moving cities - to Hyderabad from Bangalore. But I plan to keep returning to this beautiful garden of a city and meet people that are closest to my heart. In today’s issue, I’ve edited and compiled a few short stories that have been on my mind for a long time now. Please enjoy reading and let me know what you think. I hope you find them as thought-provoking as I did.
One
You take extreme care to clear the cornflakes that you spilled on the floor and the plastic lid from takeout dinner. Sometimes, you want to erase the truth of your existence from everything you touched.
Two
I look out at the fashion institute, from my office where I work as a management consultant. I feel the creative energy hitting the tall glass windows trying to escape.
Three
My anxiety is a bunch of ramp-walking models, stout, non-model like, with deceptive smirks. I’m defeated. I can’t stop them from walking and taking over the stage, their block heels thumping on my heart.
"So, I'll let you walk, just sit on the bylines and throw away the scorecard. I'm not going to judge, I'm not going to critique. I'll let you finish your walk, for we all know your stage time is limited and models don't linger on the ramp."
Sometimes, they like to do a group walk. go ahead...
"At least you're expressing in your own right."
Because daughter, see it for what it clearly is
and accept creative defeat in front of primary pain.
Save yourself from the effortful pain you take to demolish their ramp.
Just sit and watch them finish the show.
Slow down your breath...
the sky need not be bothered by the weather.
Four
“What must I write about?”
“Maybe live well and live more, then you’ll know.”
A Note from Naya
What I read recently:
Almond, by Sohn Won-pyung - How would it be if you couldn’t feel fear at all? What would happen if you didn’t have the brain to do so?
The Adventures of Tintin series by Hergé - My favourite ones include Destination Moon, Explorers on the Moon and Red Rackham’s Treasure.
What I’ve been thinking about:
Leonardo da Vinci’s note taking system and his to-do list.
Making chocolate bonbons
Chelsea Kauai’s interview on this podcast
Painting and makeup as lights and shadows
What I loved watching:
One of my favourite creators - amazing video quality and an honest exploration on finding meaning.
